Natural Vanilla
Vanilla is a flavouring originating from the Vanilla Orchid, generally Vanilla planifolia. Its name comes from the Spanish word "Vainilla", meaning little pod and is grown in 3 main areas around the world: Indonesia, Madagascar and Central/South America. E.E. & Brian Smith sources its vanilla products responsibly from Indonesia and can offer a variety of formats from Vanilla Beans (also called pods), Vanilla seeds, Vanilla Powder to Vanilla extract (in varying concentrations). These ingredients are processed extremely carefully to ensure only the highest quality Vanilla is made.
The applications for the use of vanilla ingredients are fairly diverse. Chocolate and confectionery manufacture is an obvious use for Vanilla but also the cereal, baking, dessert and drinks industries all use it in its various guises.
