E.E. & Brian Smith are a supplier Rhubarb IQF (Individually Quick Frozen). It is produced by washing the rhubarb, checking for defects, and cutting each stalk into 13mm pieces. They go through the freezing process ensuring each piece of fruit stays separate from each other ensuring a free-flowing product.
Once frozen it is packed into 10kg cartons ready for shipment.
IQF Rhubarb is often used for the following applications –
- Pie Fillings
- Ice cream
We source all our IQF Rhubarb from Poland or the UK. If sourced from the UK, you can label ‘British’ or ‘Scottish’ on your packaging which is a great when marketing more premium food products.
We always source our Rhubarb IQF from suppliers which are BRC (or equivalent) approved and have also been audited by our own in house technical team.

Question – What does IQF fruit stand for?
Answer – IQF ‘individually quick frozen’ means that the fruit is frozen very quickly at low temperatures. By it being frozen quickly the ice crystals do not form and the frozen fruit remains free flowing within the bag or carton.
