Interesting Facts
- Apricots harvested before they are fully ripe are tasteless which is a problem for growers and the reason why a large part of the apricot harvest is dried or industrially processed in some way.
- Most varieties of apricot are able to withstand winter cold as well as peaches do, but the blossom buds, which open earlier than those of the peach, are frequently killed by late freezes.
- The trees are quite drought-resistant and under favourable growing conditions some can live 100 years or more.
