E.E. & Brian Smith are a supplier of IQF Blackcurrant. They are produced by washing the blackcurrants and checking for defects. They go through the freezing process ensuring each piece of fruit stays separate from each other ensuring a free-flowing product. Once frozen the Blackcurrants are packed into cartons ready for shipment. The cartons are normally around 10kg in size.

We source all our IQF Blackcurrant from Poland and UK. If required we are able to supply ‘British’ or ‘Scottish’ Blackcurrants which are good for seasonal products.

The Blackcurrants are used in a variety of different ways by UK Food manufacturing including –

  • Fruit Pies
  • Ice cream
  • Yoghurts
  • Desserts

We always source our IQF Blackcurrant from suppliers which are BRC (or equivalent) approved and have also been audited by our own in house technical team.

We are happy to supply samples, specifications and prices for more information please contact enquiries@eebriansmith.com or 01844 239500.

Question – What does ‘IQF’ mean?

Answer – IQF  ‘individually quick frozen’ means that the fruit is frozen very quickly at low temperatures. By it being frozen quickly the ice crystals do not form and the frozen fruit remains free flowing within the bag or carton.

Question – What is the shelf life for IQF Blackcurrant?

Answer – The shelf life is 2 years from production date.

Question – Can you use IQF Blackcurrant straight from frozen?

Answer – Yes, if you are cooking with the IQF Blackcurrant you can use them straight from frozen for example in crumbles or pie fillings however if you want to eat them raw we would recommend defrosting them first.
